North sees one-quarter of province’s 61 new COVID cases June 29, 10 of them in one health district

There were 15 new cases in the Northern Regional Health Authority area, two-thirds of them in one health district.

The Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake health district had 10 new infections since the previous day, according to the provincial government website. There were also two new cases in the Sayisi/Tadoule/Barren Lands/Brochet/Northlands/Lac Brochet health district.

171 people are in hospital in Manitoba due to the virus, 49 of them in intensive care. Fourteen northern residents are in hospital as a result of COVID-19, eight of them in intensive care.

There are also 10 Manitobans with COVID-19 in intensive care units in Ontario.

No new deaths from the virus were reported June 29 and the five-day test positivity rate was 6.3 per cent.

Twenty-nine of Tuesday’s cases were in Winnipeg, 11 in the southern health region, six in the Interlake-Eastern health region and zero in the Prairie Mountain region.
