The number of new COVID-19 infections in Manitoba fell to 36 July 6, only two of which were in Northern Manitoba.

Both northern cases were in the Grand Rapids/Misipawistik/Moose Lake/Mosakahiken/Easterville/Chemawawin health district.

Three of the province's other health regions had five or fewer new cases, while there were 24 in Winnipeg.

Due to two previously reported cases being removed from the provincial total, the net daily increase in cumulative infections since the pandemic began was 34.

One death was announced July 6, the 1,152nd death related to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

There are 149 patients in Manitoba hospitals as a result of COVID-19, 36 of them in intensive care. Ten of those in hospital are from the north, including two in intensive care.

Another six Manitobans are in intensive care units in Ontario.

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba on Tuesday was 5.9 per cent.
