Despite originally shooting to get this project done by the end of 2018, Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN) will have to push the grand opening of their new gas station on Thompson’s Cree Road to mid-February.

NCN’s director for economic development David Kobliski said Jan. 21 that they still need to install the station’s pumps and canopy, which should take place over the next couple weeks.

Otherwise, Kobliski said the station’s convenience store is fully stocked and really for service at their site next to the Mystery Lake Hotel.

This gas station has been in development for over a year-and-a-half now, after being officially announced back in April 2017. It is located on NCN’s urban reserve property in Thompson, which also includes the Mystery Lake Hotel. NCN also owns and operates Family Foods in the Thompson Plaza.
