Four-year-old found dead in St. Theresa Point believed to have drowned

A four-year-old boy whose body was found in the lake at St. Theresa Point First Nation Oct. 12 is believed to have drowned, police say.

Police were advised around midnight that the child had been found in the lake, He had been reported missing to First Nation safety officers about an hour earlier. A search was organized and the boy was found in the lake on the east shore of the community. He was taken to the nursing station where he was pronounced dead.

The boy had last been seen around 4:40 p.m. Oct 11 near a family member’s home.

RCMP continue to investigate and an autopsy is being scheduled.
