Island Lake RCMP are investigating after a four-year-old boy was found dead in a bay in the north end area of St. Theresa Point May 19.
The boy was last seen in the early evening Sunday. Community members conducted a ground search and the child was found in the water around 11:30 p.m. He was taken to the St. Theresa Point nursing station, where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined drowning to be the cause of death.
RCMP were informed of the death by First Nation Safety Officers around 12:30 a.m. May 20 and continue to investigate.
