Sanderson was released on his own recognizance while Spence was remanded into custody.

Police checked more than 500 vehicles in two evening checkstops on Highway 6 near Grand Rapids and Provincial Road 327 near Chemawawin during the three-day deployment, resulting in 45 Highway Traffic Act charges, three Liquor Control Act charges, three drug seizures, one proceeds of crime investigation, one breach of undertaking charge and one charge for refusing a breathalyzer test.

The three-day crackdown was intended to make highways safer, monitor prolific criminal offenders and combat illegal drug trafficking. RCMP units as well as Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship officers participated in the deployment.
