Cross Lake crew wins First Nations firefighters competition in Thompson

The Cross Lake team earned the provincial title and the right to compete at the upcoming nationals in Halifax, Nova Scotia during the 2019 Manitoba First Nation Firefighter Competition held in Thompson July 20.

The Cross Lake team earned the provincial title and the right to compete at the upcoming nationals in Halifax, Nova Scotia during the 2019 Manitoba First Nation Firefighter Competition held in Thompson July 20. The Pimicikamak Cree Nation firefighters earned 490 points in the five-event competition, finishing 100 points head of runners-up Lac Brochet. Sandy Bay First Nation was third with 340 points. Fourth through 12th spot went to Garden Hill First Nation, the combined Easterville/York Factory team, Pukatawagan Lake Manitoba First Nation, Tataskweyak First Nation, Ebb & Flow, St.Theresa Point, the St. Theresa Point women’s team and the Garden Hill women’s team.
