Two residents of Flin Flon were killed in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 10 near Cranberry Portage on Sept. 4, RCMP say.

Flin Flon RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene at about 4 a.m. where they found a deceased 32-year-old female and a 28-year-old man who was transported to Flin Flon General Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

An investigation by an RCMP traffic collision analyst determined that the vehicle, a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck, lost control while heading north and rolled in the ditch on the western side of the highway numerous times. The truck suffered extensive damage from striking a large steel highway sign as it rolled. Both occupants were thrown clear of the truck and found by attending emergency personnel.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Speed is considered to be a factor in the collision.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ordered autopsies on both of the deceased.
