Bomb Squad wins Keewatin Tribal Council slo-pitch tournament

The Bomb Squad, bottom, defeated the Grey Jays, top, in the final of the Keewatin Tribal Council  (KTC) slo-pitch tournament in Thompson Aug. 11-12. The Mud Sliders from Tataskweyak Cree Nation, middle, took third place with a close win over their competitors from War Lake. Six teams took part in the tournament, which was organized by KTC’s Janelle Laliberty. The winning team donated their $500 prize to the Oniske family, who recently lost their father, and were thanked by the family for their generosity. Midwest Karate Club youth operated the food vendor over the weekend and KTC thanks the City of Thompson recreation department for the use of the ball diamonds. KTC represents 11 Northern Manitoba First Nations and is headquartered on Nickel Road in Thompson.
