Cross Lake RCMP are looking for a suspect who tried to abduct a nine-year-old female in the community in September.

Police say the girl was walking home around 8 p.m. Sept. 12 from a playground in the Natamik area of Cross Lake when a man in black pickup truck offered her a chocolate bar. He then took the girl by the arm and tried to pull her into the vehicle but she got away and ran to a nearby family member’s house for help.

A composite sketch of the suspect was made based on the girl’s description. He is described as Indigenous and in his 50s with wrinkled skin, a large nose, dark black eyes and shoulder-length black hair. He was wearing a black sweater without a hood, jeans and shoes that were orange on the bottom. He is also described as having white discolouration on his hands and fingers. The truck was described as an older black pickup truck.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Cross Lake RCMP at 204-676-2600 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or by texting TIPMAN plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
