Animal cruelty video posted online leads to Easterville man’s arrest

An 18-year-old man from Easterville is in custody after a video showing a suspect tossing a German Shepherd puppy into the air and letting it fall to the ground before walking away was posted on social media.

An 18-year-old Easterville man is facing charges after a video of him throwing this German Shepherd puppy, named Asha, into the air and letting it fall to the ground was posted online.

An 18-year-old man from Easterville is in custody after a video showing a suspect tossing a German Shepherd puppy into the air and letting it fall to the ground before walking away was posted on social media.

Chemawawin RCMP launched an investigation July 26 and determined that the man seen in the video was an Easterville resident. Jesse Young was arrested on the morning of July 27 and has been charged with causing unnecessary pain and injury to a dog and breach of undertaking. The dog, named Asha, was located that day and is being treated for injuries in a Winnipeg veterinary facility.

Young remains in custody pending a court appearance in The Pas Aug. 2.
