— Canadian entries are CPL champion Forge FC, CPL regular-season winner Cavalry FC and the Canadian Championship winner Vancouver Whitecaps.

— It marks the 58th edition of the Champions Cup, which has seen several format remakes over the years. There have been 30 different champions, with Mexican powerhouse Club America leading the way with seven titles (1977, 1987, 1990, 1992, 2006, 2014-15, 2015-16).

— Mexico’s Club Leon became the latest first-time winner, hoisting the trophy in 2023.

— Three MLS teams have won the tournament: D.C. United in 1998, the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2000 and Seattle Sounders in 2022. Nine MLS teams are taking part this year.

— Seven teams from Canada have previously competed: the Serbian White Eagles, Toronto Italia, Vancouver 86ers, CF Montreal, Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps, Forge FC. Calgary's Cavalry becomes the eighth different Canadian club.

— Toronto reached the final in 2018, losing to Chivas Guadalajara in the final in a penalty shootout. Montreal lost the 2014-15 final to Club America.
