What do you do for a living?

Regional fisheries manager for the province.

Why do you want to be on the school board again?

I always figured if it was worth doing once it was worth doing twice. Maintaining continuity is not a bad thing for the board, but in terms of what my personal objectives are, definitely that’s a big part of why I would do it. There are things that we’re working on that we should continue to work on. I would like to be a part of that.

What is the most important educational issue you want to address if elected?

There’s certainly changes that are under way within the City of Thompson that affect the amount of money available that can be collected locally from taxation, so we have to cognizant of the fact that we can’t just take money. The other bigger challenge is going to be the province will be changing things … we don’t know what it’s going to be, but I think its important that whoever is on the board understands that those changes are coming and one of the things I want to do is be a voice for Thompson in making sure that the City of Thompson and our school district get whatever we need out of those changes.

Why should someone vote for you over the other candidates?

I still stand for the same things I did when I ran in the first place, which was that we came to Thompson we started a family here, all of our children grew up within this school system and all were served extremely well by it, not just academically, but all the opportunities they had. They came out of the system as really well-rounded young people that were ready to go on and do whatever they wanted to in the world and I wanted to make sure that everyone else has that chance.
