Graduating students Chris Briggs and Hughie Crawford walked away from their high school athletics careers with their trophy cases full June 11, picking up five awards apiece, including the senior male athlete of the year award, which they shared, as R.D. Parker Collegiate's athletics program handed out its annual Trojan awards.

Sara Shea, also in Grade 12, received the senior girls athlete of the year award, along with three other prizes, while Landon Sorensen was the junior male athlete of the year and Allison Correia the junior female winner.

In addition to being the athlete of the year, Briggs was named the rookie of the year in boys' soccer and senior boys' track and field, the most dedicated player on the senior boys' volleyball team and received an outstanding leadership award in senior boys' basketball. The junior girls' basketball team was recognized with an Ultimate Award in recognition of the program's first-ever provincial basketball championship.

"This is by far the most strong-willed team I've ever coached," said junior girls' basketball coach Kristin Donovan.
