Norman Northstar Cory Nygaard is one of four goalies chosen to attend the July 8-12 Hockey Manitoba Program of Excellence summer camp to compete for a spot on the male under-17 Team West.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba each provide 11 players for Team West, which competes at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge. This year's event will take place in Timmins, Ont. over the Christmas holidays and feature 1993-born players.

He was one of five players from Thompson, along with Northstars teammates Justin Valentino and Kenton Fayant, who took part in Hockey Manitoba's under-17 male Program of Excellence tournament April 17-19 at the Max Bell Centre in Winnipeg.

Nygaard was also a member of Team Manitoba's male squad for the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Winnipeg May 3-9, which finished with a bronze medal.
