Players who ended their midget careers in Thompson as members of the Norman Northstars are on the move and on the scoreboard in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League as it winds up the first month of the regular season.
The much-traded Brent Wilson of Norway House, who was an all-star and the team's top scorer in his last year with the Northstars, continues to light things up from the blue-line with his new team, the Swan Valley Stampeders, sitting sixth among all scorers in the league with three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in his first eight games. Six of his assists have come on the power play.
Another ex-Northstars defender, Thompson's Jordan McKay, was recently moved from the Stampeders, traded for future considerations to the Neepawa Natives on Sept. 15. McKay has one goal in four games. Former Northstar Myles Stevens, also of Norway House, has had a strong start in Swan Valley, picking up four goals and six assists in his first seven games.
Last year's co-captain Mathew Backhouse of Thompson has recorded five points, all assists, in his first eight games of junior hockey as a defenceman with the Dauphin Kings.
Eli Halcrow had two assist s in his first four games with Neepawa.
The rights to ex-Northstar Kevin Braun were traded from the Winkler Flyers to the Steinbach Pistons Sept. 13.
