It may not have reached 10 degrees Celsius outside like organizers hoped, but the 3-on-3 basketball tournament June 6 in the City Centre Mall parking lot certainly showed some sizzle.

It may not have reached 10 degrees Celsius outside like organizers hoped, but the 3-on-3 basketball tournament June 6 in the City Centre Mall parking lot certainly showed some sizzle. Thirteen teams from Thompson and Nelson House battled for bragging rights in chilly weather with temperatures well below seasonal but there was plenty of heat on the courts.

The Terminators emerged as the victors in the 18+ category, defeating Vanilla Chocolate Swirl in the final.

The Terminators won all three of their round-robin match-ups to earn a bye into the final, opening with a 16-14 win over PTMs & Mech, then beating Vanilla Chocolate Swirl 16-12 and ending with a 16-3 trashing of the Garbage Men.

Vanilla Chocolate Swirl beat the Garbage Men 16-4 and also got past PTMs & Mech before downing the Garbage Men again in the semifinal.

The Garbage Men were one-point victors over PTMs & Mech in the other 18+ round-robin match.

In the 16-17 years open division, NCN Power muscled their way past Juicy Fruit in the final after going undefeated in the round-robin and playoffs, recording victories of 16-11 over Freeze, 16-14 over Spuds from the Great Red Mud, and 16-12 over Juicy Fruit, following it up with a 16-14 win over Freeze in the semifinals.

Spuds from the Great Red Mud beat Freeze to claim the girls' title.

The championship in the 12-13 years boys' division went to the T-town Ballers, who defeated the Diamond Ballers 16-15 in a last-shot-wins final after winning twice in the round robin.

Two teams entered in the 8-11 years boys division, with the B-Ballers taking the title over Red Diamond.
