In badminton, schools competing at the provincial championships will now compete for two team banners, one for the top team in the A and AA divisions, the other for the top team in the AAA and AAAA categories.

The rural and urban track and field provincials will be combined into a single event starting next season, which will be held on the same dates as the city provincials have traditionally been held, usually the second weekend in June. The new provincial championship will be a three-day affair.

Rural junior varsity basketball games will be 40 minutes long effective in 2009-2010, with 10-minute quarters instead of the current eight-minute quarter format.

Starting in the 2010-2011 season, rural provincial soccer championship games will consist of two 45-minute halves, as endorsed by the Canadian and Manitoba Soccer Associations for athletes aged 15 and up. Currently, the teams play 35-minute halves. The championship will also be a two-day event.
