UCN students, instructors and staff will return to in-person work and study in January

After Nov. 1, all students, faculty, staff and visitors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enter UCN campuses and other learning facilities.

In-person learning and working will resume at University College of the North (UCN) when the winter term begins in January.

All students, faculty and staff will once again be required to attend the campus or other learning facility where they work, teach or study, UCN said in a Sept. 29 press release.

The institution will continue to follow public health orders and masks will be required, but physical distancing restrictions will be lifted.

UCN’s requirement that all students, staff, faculty and visitors be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which takes effect Nov. 1, will remain in place at the campus in Thompson and The Pas and other learning facilities in other communities.

“Our goal with all the pandemic planning, including a vaccine requirement on Nov. 1, is to create the safest environment possible for students and staff,” said UCN president Doug Lauvstad. “A return to face-to-face instruction is one of the benefits to this hard work.”

A contingency plan will be in place should a return to remote learning be necessary.
