Terri-Lynn Reid, a student at University College of the North (UCN) in Thompson, is one of the 71 students selected out of 206 applicants across Canada this year to receive a $1,000 Kin Canada bursary.

Reid was selected based on her various community volunteering experiences, her future financial needs in finishing her program, and her knowledge of the Thompson Kin Club and the Kin Canada association. Reid will be starting her second year in the community economic development diploma program at UCN's Thompson campus.

In a thank-you letter Reid sent to the Thompson Kin Club, she wrote, “Every little bit helps me with my education so I can help our community and provide for my family. Your gift will forever be appreciated and I’m so excited to start my final year in September.”
Since the bursary's inception in 1994, $1,096,000 has been awarded to 1,096 students across Canada. Kin Canada Bursaries aims to provide 50 $1,000 bursaries every year to deserving post-secondary students, dependent on the previous year's funding. Twenty-one Manitoba awards this year were made possible by the generous contribution from the Winnipeg Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo.
