Thompson man dies after May 20 assault at hotel

A 30-year-old man from Norway House is charged with manslaughter.

A manslaughter charge was laid after a Thompson man died May 22 from injuries suffered during an assault two days earlier.

A manslaughter charge has been laid in connection with a May 20 assault on a 48-year-old man from Thompson who later died.

30-year-old Preston Queskekapow, from Norway House, is charged with manslaughter and remains in custody.

Queskekapow was arrested at the scene when Thompson RCMP responded to an assault at a hotel on Selkirk Avenue in Thompson around 9 p.m. Friday night. 

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries on the evening of May 22, police say.

Queskekapow was initially charged with aggravated assault prior to the victim dying.
