Churchill is known for its stunning natural beauty, and for offering some of the best sights in Canada. The town is home to several historical landmarks, including the Prince of Wales Fort and the Port of Churchill. It's also a popular destination for snowmobilers, and each year, North Star Tours and Heartland lead an epic multi-day adventure across the tundra, from Thompson to Churchill.

This year's Quest for the Bay snowmobile trip just wrapped up, and riders got to enjoy some of Churchill’s best sites during in-town sled excursions, as well as journeys across the Churchill River to the Prince of Wales Fort, the Port of Churchill, and other parts of the beautiful surrounding tundra and Churchill area, where natural phenomena like sun dogs and northern lights are frequent.

Jayde and Remi are the masterminds behind these epic trips, with the combined effort of North Star Tours and Heartland. Of course, without the hard work of all the local guides and staff, these expeditions wouldn't be possible.

“We are proud to be partnered with Heartland Travel, another family-run, Manitoba company. We now offer packages through Heartland for all of Churchill’s sights and seasons. Contact Heartland Travel to start booking your multi-day Churchill adventure now,” said wildlife guide Remi.

North Star tour guides Rhonda and Claude teamed up with Sub Arctic Tours to provide a unique Churchill winter experience, which included a classic Town and Area Tour, as well as a special snowmobile trip across the Churchill River.

“We are so honored to have hosted the Nordic Ambassadors during their visit to Churchill this past week!” Rhonda stated, one of North Star Tours’ Town and Area Experts.

The Quest for the Bay: Northern Manitoba Snowmobile Adventures expeditions ran from March 17th to 23rd and March 24th to 30th, and the highlight of the trip could also include sighting wildlife and northern lights!

Locally owned and operated for four generations, and serving northern adventurers since the 1950s, North Star is the first choice for many travelers seeking a sub-Arctic experience. The main reason? Their guides!

Each North Star Guide has the expertise and experience to make your trip to Churchill unforgettable. Their focus is to share the area's rich natural history, wildlife, indigenous culture, and heritage through interesting and engaging tours on the shores of the stunning Hudson Bay.

“Through our personal stories and experiences, unique personalities, and lifelong passion and respect for wildlife, you'll be sure to find an experience that will make your trip unforgettable,” says one of the North Star guides.

The snowmobile trip is just one of the many adventures that Churchill has to offer. Visitors can also take part in whale watching, dog sledding, and polar bear tours. Whatever adventure you choose, you can be sure that Churchill will leave a lasting impression on you.

“Churchill is a unique place that offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says another North Star guide. “It's a place that people come back to again and again, and we're proud to be a part of that tradition.”

The Last Thompson to Churchill Quest for the Bay Snowmobile Trip of 2024 was a great success, and the participants got to enjoy the beautiful sights of Churchill and the surrounding tundra. The trip was made possible by the hard work and dedication of all the local guides and staff, and they look forward to welcoming more visitors to Churchill in the future.
