Skeletal remains identified as missing Oxford House man

Skeletal remains that were found in a wooded area just off a hydro power line east of Thompson have been positively identified as 37-year-old Bernard Carlo Hart. Thompson RCMP received a report that Hart was missing from Oxford House on June 6.

Thompson RCMP received a report that Hart was missing from Oxford House on June 6. He had had left the community and travelled to Thompson, and was reported last seen around May 28.

On July 8, Thompson RCMP were notified of the skeletal remains by a civilian search team. The wooded area was secured for further investigation by members of the Thompson RCMP forensic identification section and a team of forensic anthropologists from the heritage branch of the provincial government.

On July 14 a post mortem took place in Winnipeg and the remains were identified on July 16 as those of Hart, based on dental records. The cause of death is currently undetermined but the RCMP are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the death.
