Elections Manitoba declared the results of last week’s Thompson MLA byelection official on June 14 and poll-by-poll numbers show it was nearly a total sweep by the successful candidate.

NDP MLA-elect Eric Redhead got more than twice as many votes as Progressive Conservative candidate Charlotte Larocque — 1,465 to 581 — and overall turnout was 19.34 per cent of 10,076 eligible voters.

Poll-by-poll results showed that Redhead won all but three of the 50 polls — 34 regular and 16 advance or mobile, — while Larocque won only one advance poll by three votes — 10 ballots to seven. The candidates also received the same number of votes at two polls.
