Multiple searches in Thompson uncover 300 grams of cocaine and 700 grams of marijuana

Seven people were arrested in connection with the July 27 searches, three of whom were remanded into custody until an Aug. 2 court appearance.

Searches at five Thompson locations on July 27 resulted in the seizure of cocaine, illicit marijuana and more than $20,000, RCMP say.

Search warrants related to an ongoing investigation that were executed by Thompson RCMP’s General Investigation Section and other detachment members, the Emergency Response Team and the North District CREST unit recovered 314 grams of cocaine and 719 grams of marijuana as well as drug-related paraphernalia and resulted in seven arrests.

32-year-old Matt Delaronde of Thompson, 26-year-old David Chatkana of Winnipeg and 25-year-old Teasloach Lual of Edmonton were remanded into custody until an Aug. 2 provincial court appearance on charges of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possessing proceeds of crime.

Three other males, aged 19, 20 and 33, and a 51-year-old woman, all from Thompson, were also arrested in connection with the searches and released until court appearances scheduled for Oct. 28.

Thompson RCMP continue investigating.
