Manslaughter charge laid in death of 18-year-old Gods River woman

Alleged killer, 17, knew the victim, police say.

A 17-year-old woman is charged with manslaughter in the death of an 18-year-old woman in Gods River, RCMP say.

God’s Lake Narrows RCMP responded to a report of an injured woman at a Gods River residence around 8:30 p.m. March 19. The victim had been taken to the nursing station with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead soon after arrival.

On March 21, police arrested a 17-year-old woman from Gods River and charged her with manslaughter. She was remanded into custody pending a provincial court appearance in Thompson March 22. 

The alleged perpetrator and the victim knew each other, police say.

God’s Lake Narrows RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
