A 46-year-old man from Winnipeg drowned near a remote cabin in South Indian Lake on the morning of Sept. 11.
South Indian Lake RCMP received a report of a drowning just before 11 a.m. Saturday and attended a remote cabin along Provincial Road 493 in O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation. They located a man in a small pond near the cabin and removed him from the water but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigation determined that the man slipped in the mud on the banks of the pond and fell into the water.
