Home invaders beat occupants, set house on fire in Moose Lake

21-year-old man faces multiple charges and police are looking for a second suspect.

One man has been arrested and police are looking for another after a home invasion and arson in Moose Lake Oct. 1.

Moose Lake RCMP were called to a report of an assault at a residence around 1 a.m. that day. They arrived to find that the home engulfed in flames. The residents of the home, a 38-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were taken to the nursing station for treatment of minor injuries. Police learned the two were at home when two men broke in and assaulted them with weapons. Both victims got out of the residence and to safety before the fire, which police believe was intentional, got started.

Leroy Jensen, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon and uttering threats, as well as one count of arson, one count of breaking into an occupied resident, one count of assault causing bodily harm and five counts of failing with comply with a release order.

Moose Lake RCMP are looking for 26-year-old Patrick Ballantyne in connection with this incident.
