Thompson RCMP have seized cocaine with an approximate street value of $12,000, as well as cash, from two Thompson teenagers.

Two search warrants were executed by RCMP on Nov. 4, one in the Burntwood area and one in Juniper.

"Police located and seized approximately one ounce of powder cocaine and crack cocaine, along with $1,600 cash," said RCMP Sgt. Rob Collen of the Burntwood seizure. At that residence, a 16-year-old Thompson teen was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime. The youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will appear in court Dec. 17.

In Juniper, police seized another ounce of powder cocaine, as well as what Collen termed "a small amount of cash." Joey Whiteway, an 18-year-old from Thompson, was also charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. He was released on recognizance, and will also appear in provincial court Dec. 17.
