City roads are a disgrace in the industrial area

I am writing this letter on behalf of myself and my work colleagues to express our dissatisfaction with the conditions of the industrial area's roads.

I am writing this letter on behalf of myself and my work colleagues to express our dissatisfaction with the conditions of the industrial area's roads. We work in this area and we constantly hear people expressing concerns of how "ugly" the roads are around us. Most of the clients that we have do not like to drive on these roads, but they have no other choice. The conditions are almost always like driving over a washboard, and on our street, Knife Crescent, it only gets worse.

Last fall, another business owner took it upon himself to close part of the street and block it off with his heavy machinery because of new construction to his building. The road was closed for approximately two weeks, and with wet

weather the part of the road he was using caved and sunk in.

To date, it has never been repaired completely. It was filled in with gravel twice, but with the heavy machines and constant traffic, the road kept sinking causing big dips, holes, and major washboard. It is our belief that either the business owner just does not care enough to fix the road properly, or he is ignorant in the respect that he does not know how and refuses to pay to get the city to do it. We have asked the business owner directly to fix the problem numerous times to no avail.

We have also asked the city to come and fix it, but we were told that since he destroyed the road, it was up to him

to repair it.

We had a visit recently from a city official and we were told that our roads are not priority, and repairs/paving were "not even a blip on the radar."

I am sure that it is not only Cree Road and Knife Crescent that are in dire need of repairs, but we are into the month of June and I have yet to see sort of road repairs anywhere in Thompson. Let's face the facts; our city streets are absolutely intolerable. We should all wonder, where does our tax money go?
