Rock debris
Stone debris accidentally released from a dump trailer forced police and Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation to block Highway 6 for nearly three hours June 8-9 while the company responsible for the spill cleaned it up.

Highway 6 was blocked for nearly three hours starting late on June 8 after a dump trailer malfunction left stone debris strewn all over the roadway just south of Thompson.

The debris was reported to Thompson Rural RCMP around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday night. Officers arrived and contacted Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation, who sent a safety officer to the scene.

While they were at the scene, someone from the company operating the dump trailer arrived. Police learned that the dump gate on the underside of the trailer opened unexpectedly and deposited the stone debris all over the highway. Police and Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation blocked the highway until approximately 2:30 a.m. while the company responsible for the mess cleaned up the debris with their equipment.

No injuries or property damage resulted from the incident, RCMP say.
