Taliyah, Tiarra and Marigold all donated their entries to the TSCRC.

The Canada Day Bring Your Bloomers plant and flower arrangement contest organized by the Thompson Seniors Community Resource Council had 18 entries this year, nine more than in 2021.

The contest, which was free to enter, included live potted plant, live flower arrangement and artificial floral arrangement categories for three age groups: under 12, 12 to 19, and over 19. The winners were picked by members of the public dropping tickets into numbered bags by the entries.

“We were thrilled to see all the entries coming and in every age group,” said TSCRC chairperson Linda Dearman. “And we received such wonderful support from our prize sponsors. I hope this kind of support encourages people to shop local. That’s the best thank you we can give our local businesses.”

Contest sponsors included Anything Grows, Shoppers Drug Mart, Canadian Tire, Chicken Chef, the Great Canadian Dollar Store and Dairy Queen while all the work involved with the event was provided by volunteers, all of whom were seniors.

“We encourage you to start thinking about your entry into the Bring Your Bloomers event next year,” said Dearman.
