The organizers behind the 52nd Thompson Festival of the Arts took over the C.A. Nesbit Arena May 17−18 to showcase the large smorgasbord of talent that inhabits the local community.
In total, the visual arts portion of this two-month event received 216 official entries from local students that ranged in age from kindergarten all the way up to senior high school.
Just like in previous years, this art exhibition featured a nice variety of artistic mediums, including acrylic paintings, photography, pencil sketches and mixed media installations.
Photographer Hugh Fraser and painting instructor Audrie Brooks ended up serving as the event’s visual art adjudicators, and were tasked with evaluating and ranking every single entry that made the grade.
In the end, this latest event on May 17−18 served as the culmination of two months worth of activities, where the Festival of the Arts highlighted the best that Thompson’s youth have to offer in terms of dance, music and speech.
The award winners from all of these artistic disciplines will be put on display duringhighlights concerts, which will be taking place at the Letkemann Theatre May 29−30.
