On the evening of Saturday, Aug. 26, dozens of local boxing and mixed martial arts fans packed into Boston Pizza to watch the much-hyped bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
Even though the majority of the bar patrons were behind the Irish MMA star, Mayweather ended up winning the fight in the 10th round via a technical knockout, extending his career undefeated streak to 50–0.
Outside of fans watching at bars or at home, Saturday’s match-up was also available through theatrical venues like the Strand, raking in $2.6 million from 534 different theatres.
