R.D. Parker Collegiate's senior girls' basketball team won their third straight tournament Jan. 20, defeating the St. John's Tigers 60-47 in the final to win the Gordon Bell varsity girls' tournament in Winnipeg.

That was the closest game of the tournament for the Trojans, who knocked off the Northlands Parkway Nighthawks 65-28 in the semifinals and thumped the West Kildonan Wolverines 120-15 to open the tournament.

They also won the title at a tournament in Neepawa the previous weekend and in The Pas in mid-December.

RDPC's Ashley Williams was named tournament MVP and her teammate Casey Singh was named to the all-star team.

Prior to this tournament, the Trojan girls were ranked as the third-best AAA high school girls' basketball team in the province behind the University of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen and the Linden Christian Wings in the June 18 Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association Manitoba Hydro weekly power rankings. RDPC's senior boys were ranked fifth among boys' teams, behind the Neelin Spartans, Gordon Bell Panthers, St. James Jimmies and University of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen.
