Province contributes $1.2 million more to TRCC
Thompson MLA Steve Ashton announced Feb. 3 in the north lobby of the not-yet finished Thompson Regional Community Centre that the province would contribute $1.2 million more to the project, in addition to the $4.5 million it has already put towards the three phases of reconstruction.
2012 Norman Winter Games
From Jan. 27-29, Thompson hosted the Norman Winter Games, which featured badminton, basketball, broomball and hockey competitions for youth and adults.

Norman Wild open season

The Thompson King Miners and Cross Lake Islanders faced off in a pair of Norman Region Minor Hockey Association midget AA league games in Thompson Oct. 22-23, with the King Miners winning both.
Norman Northstars versus Yellowhead Chiefs
The Norman Northstars' home record remains at .500 after they split a two-game series with the Yellowhead Chiefs Oct. 15-16, winning the first game 9-4 and losing 6-2 the following day.
Thompson Youth Flag Football
About 20 players were out on Burntwood Elementary School's field Oct. 2 for a game of touch football.
Norman Northstars Home Opener
The Norman Northstars played their first home game of the season Oct. 7 at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena, beating the Eastman Selects 6-2. The Selects got revenge the next night, defeating the home team 7-4.
Navratri festivities
Hindu Prathna Samaj of Thompson sponsored nighttime festivities over the weekend on Sept. 30 at St. Lawrence Hall and Oct. 1 at R.D. Parker Collegiate to mark Navratri, one of the most celebrated festivals on the Hindu calendar. 'Nav' means 'nine' and 'ratri' means 'night' – hence Navratri, meaning nine nights.
