R.D. Parker Collegiate’s varsity girls’ basketball team closed their European tour with a couple of wins after losing their first two games.

The Trojans got their first win of the extra-long road trip against Brandy’s Nad Labem in Prague, prevailing 72-70 after tying the score 70-70 with a late three-pointer and then potting the winning basket after recovering the rebound from a missed shot on an offensive drive.

“[Caitlin] Fennell had the best game of her life, scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and Adrianna [Proulx] had 29 points,” said Trojans head coach Sara Gillis in an email. “The whole team were all so tired. They were spent. They really did play to their physical limit. I was so proud of them!”

The team followed that victory with a 95-82 win over Parker Hannifin from Prague. Their first two games of the trip were a 61-52 loss to Slovanka Club and an 82-60 loss to Porg High School. The RDPC girls also held a practice session with a group of 10- to 12-year-old girls at Sadska School between their last two games.

Off the court, the team visited Karlstejn Castle and Prague Castle as well as Saint Barbara’s Cathedral in the town of Kunta Hora, which is notable for its chapel of bones.
