The Gillam Airport is receiving $418,000 from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) to replace a medium snowblower, the federal government announced July 23.

The Bloodvein River Airport is also receiving $201,00 to purchase a small snowblower, Transport Canada said.

"The Bloodvein River and Gillam airports are important hubs for residents and businesses in this region,” said Winnipeg South Centre MP and Minister of International Trade Diversification Jim Carr in a press release. “This snow-clearing equipment will help ensure continued safe operations for passengers, flight crews, and employees, who rely on these airports to support the regional economy and its social development."

"The government of Canada recognizes the important role played by Canada's local airports in supporting jobs and tourism, enabling investment and facilitating trade,” said Minister of Transport Marc Garneau. “Our investments are helping airports increase safety and accessibility for residents and travellers, while supporting the continued growth of local and regional economies."
