Cruisin’ the Dub with the Thompson Auto Club

On Aug. 25, the Thompson Auto Club along with A&W joined up for an evening of friendship, automobiles and great burgers. A&W annually hosts Cruisin the Dub – an event where car enthusiasts join up for a great cause  raising funds and awareness in support of multiple sclerosis. On this day A&W’ restaurants all around the country promote awareness and fundraising, donating $1 from every Teen Burger sold to the cause.

This year’s event marked the resurgence of the Thompson Auto Club in town with some new blood and some experience – the boys are back in town! Cars and trucks came out the the event. New hot rods and, of course, all the classics. The hobbyists who spend many hours and dollars on their beloved rides show their work and beam with pride, each having a story of the trials and tribulations of owning these great automobiles.

As in the past, the Thompson Auto Club hosts the show and shine, with the Crusin’ the Dub marking the Kirk Husarski Memorial People’s Choice award. Viewers and showmen vote on their favourite vehicle. At the end of the show, votes are tallied and the winner is determined. This year it was a gut-wrenching ,engine-revving tie, with the winner this year declared as Mario Silva for his 1969 El Camino. On hand for the presentation of the award were George and Shirley Husarski. It is a wonderful way to remember their son who so loved hot rods.

The Thompson Auto Club would like to thank Rick and his staff from A&W for hosting the event (and the great burgers), Mario Silva of Hi-Tech Auto as well as NAPA and AMP for their donations. Volunteers helped make the event a success- working the registration table, Meagan and Nina Van Drunen, Meagan Van Drunen for designing the TAC brochure, and a very big thank you to Mike  and Kotie from After Dark for donating services of awesome tunes for the event. A very special thank you to Brian Taylor for coming down to the show to take amazing photos of all the autos and event. Be sure to check out the Facebook page for photos and information. The Thompson Auto Club usually meets every second Thursday at A&W.
