QUESTION OF THE WEEK

  • Forest fires are a fact of life in Northern Manitoba, although the number and severity vary year to year. How prepared do you feel you are to evacuate quickly if the need arose under a disaster management plan scenario?
  • Poorly prepared. I’d be running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I know better but I’m complacent

Thompson players take part in MJHL evaluation day

Thompson’s Justin Valentino and Drake Bodie were among 40 Manitoba Junior Hockey League players who took part in a one-day evaluation at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg on Oct. 7.

Valentino and Bodie were teammates on Team Black for the evaluation, which was conducted to give the players a chance to showcase their skills for those responsible for choosing who will get an invite to the World Junior A Challenge selection camp hosted by Hockey Canada Oct. 28 in Calgary.

Valentino, in his second year with the Swan Valley Stampeders, has one goal and three assists in seven games this season, while Bodie, in his first year with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, has one goal and four assists in six games after playing one regular season game with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades to start the season.
