QUESTION OF THE WEEK

  • Forest fires are a fact of life in Northern Manitoba, although the number and severity vary year to year. How prepared do you feel you are to evacuate quickly if the need arose under a disaster management plan scenario?
  • Poorly prepared. I’d be running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I know better but I’m complacent

Trojans soccer squads strong in Swan Valley

RDPC’s girls’ soccer team won two of three games in Swan Valley Sept. 21-22.

R.D. Parker Collegiate’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams were in fine form in Swan Valley Sept. 21-22, winning all but one of their games in a tournament that served as their warm-up for the Zone 11 soccer championships, which will be played at Burntwood School in Thompson this Friday and Saturday.

The Trojans boys were perfect in three games at the tournament, picking up three wins, including shutout victories of 3-0 against Birtle and Hapnot Collegiate Institute from Flin Flon, likely one of the favourites to make the finals at the zone playoffs. The winner of that tournament will represent Zone 11 at the rural soccer provincials in October.

RDPC’s girls’ team was also on top of their game at the tournament in swan Valley, recording victories of 3-1 over Birtle and 3-0 against the Hapnot Kopper Kweens. The only blemish on their record was a 2-0 blanking by the host Swan Valley Regional Secondary School.
