Body of missing man found in Footprint Lake

The body of a 29-year old man was located in Footprint Lake near Nisichawaysihk Cree Nation (NCN) on July 31 at around 11 .a.m.

The name of the deceased has not been released. He had been reported missing to the RCMP on July 30 and not seen since July 27, said Const. Paul Human, a media relations spokesperson with RCMP "D" Division in Winnipeg. Human, who is temporarily with media relations, is normally posted in Selkirk.

Nelson House RCMP were assisted by numerous community members from NCN in searches on foot going door to door, on ATV through trails and on water by boat in an effort to locate the missing man, Human said.

An autopsy has been ordered, however, there is no foul play suspected at this time, he said.

The RCMP are continuing to investigate the whereabouts of the 29-year old man before he was found deceased.
