Thompson RCMP are investigating a fatal hit and run that occurred early Monday morning.
RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched just before 2 a.m. on Monday to a call of a man who was lying on Provincial Route 391 just south of Thompson Golf Course.
The man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. He was 19, said Sgt. Steve Fassbender, an RCMP detachment spokesman in Thompson. His name is not being released, Fassbender said.
RCMP investigation has determined that the male was cycling and was struck by a vehicle that was possibly white in color. The victim was described as wearing dark coloured clothing.
The investigation is ongoing and an RCMP traffic services collision analyst has been called in to examine the scene.
The public is being urged by the RCMP to assist in the investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Thompson RCMP at (204) 677-6909, or for those who wish to remain anonymous, to call Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
