REGINA - Saskatchewan health officials are reminding people to take precautions against the West Nile virus.
Mosquitoes are out in full force in the province.
Government entomologist Phil Curry says there are no human cases of the virus yet this year and no captured bugs have tested positive for the virus.
But he says the type of mosquito known to carry West Nile is prevalent in the southern Saskatchewan and its numbers are expected to increase over the next few weeks.
In 2007, nearly 1,500 people in Saskatchewan contracted the virus and six died.
Curry advises people spending time to put on insect repellent and cover up with light-coloured clothing.
