Two men from The Pas have been charged with assault causing bodily harm after a video of the assault was posted online on May 5.
The video depicted a group of individuals taunting a highly intoxicated person outside of the Legion in The Pas.
The intoxicated male was walking away from the group, but turned and walked back towards them when they called out to him. When the male approached the group, one man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
The intoxicated man was left bleeding from his face, and in the video, a group of individuals can be heard laughing and commenting how it had been captured on video.
Public reaction to the video was one of disgust and anger, and as a result the video was turned over to The Pas RCMP. The individuals responsible attempted to quickly delete it from Facebook.
Following the incident, the victim came forward and provided police with a statement, though he was so intoxicated at the time of the assault that he had no recollection of how he received facial injuries until he saw the video.
The Pas RCMP conducted an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of both the cameraman and the individual who assaulted the man.
Jean-Rock Plante and Blake Harry Constant have both been charged with assault causing bodily harm and were released on a promise to appear in court on June 18, 2012.
The Pas and OCN RCMP would like to thank members of the public who came forward to assist in the investigation.
