Skate Thompson competes at Stony Mountain


Skate Thompson members who competed in Stony Mountain March 25-27 included, from left to right, Rianna van Tonder, Emily Penney, Amy Shier, Madyson Caldwell, Megan Szabo and Erica Anderson.

Stony “On Ice” took place in Stony Mountain, Manitoba from March 25-27. Over 400 skaters from all over Manitoba and Ontario came to participate in this annual figure skating competition. There were seven skaters from Skate Thompson who skated fantastically in a variety of events. Results from the weekend are as follows:

Megan Szabo placed first in Junior Bronze Ladies Freeskate, first in Junior Bronze Elements, first in Pre-Introductory Interpretive and fourth in Junior Bronze Spins.

Kassia Wolanski McGirr placed first in Introductory Interpretive, first in Preliminary Improv., fourth in Preliminary Ladies Freeskate and fourth in Pre-Preliminary Spins.

Madyson Caldwell placed second in Pre-Preliminary Ladies Freeskate, third in Preliminary Spins, third in Pre-Introductory Interpretive, fourth in Preliminary Elements and first in Pre-Preliminary Improv.

Erica Anderson placed first in Pre-Preliminary Ladies Freeskate, fourth in Pre-Preliminary Spins, fourth in Preliminary Elements and second in Pre-Preliminary Improv.

Rianna van Tonder placed fourth in Entry Ladies Freeskate and fourth in Entry Elements.

Emily Penney placed first in Pre-Preliminary Improv and fourth in Entry Elements.

Amy Shier placed fourth in Entry Ladies Freeskate and fourth in Entry Elements.

A huge congratulations goes out to the girls of Skate Thompson on a job well done. This competition concludes the figure skating season for the 2011-12 year. The skaters also had a test day on April 7.
