Trailer Park Boys make a maternity ward call

Tia Piche is a big, big fan of Jim Lahey (John Dunsworth) who starred as the supervisor of the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia during the cult hit Trailer Park Boys television series and two movies between 2001 and 2009, and his sidekick Randy (Patrick Roach), the until now always shirtless and cheeseburger-addicted assistant trailer park supervisor, who visited Thompson's Trappers Tavern at the Mystery Lake Motor Hotel for a 90-minute show April 5.

However, Tia was spending her 18th birthday on the maternity ward of Thompson General Hospital getting ready to bring her son Chase Wayne Carl Elliott into the world the next day at 12:22 a.m. April 6 (he weighed in at nine pounds and 23 inches in length.) So Tia’s mom, Yvonne Piche, called up the Mystery Lake Motor Hotel to request a “hospital visit” for her daughter and assistant manager Molly Stapleton and general manager Rob Roberts got to work.

“Yvonne contacted us to request a hospital visit from Randy and (Pat Roach) and Mr. Lahey (John Dunsworth) and they immediately obliged,” Roberts said. “They performed to a full house at Trappers with rave reviews.  They were both a pleasure to deal with and are consummate gentlemen.”

Yvonne told Roberts and Stapleton: “I would like to say thank you … you made my daughter’s 18th birthday complete.  I cannot believe "Randy" and "Mr. Lahey" actually showed up at the maternity ward ... Tia told me after they left it was the greatest gift ever ... her friends are still asking her about it … please thank them again from me for making Tia's day complete.  Words cannot express how much that meant to me.”
