QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Recycling pick-up suspended

The Thompson Recycling Center has suspended it's residential and commercial pick-ups, effective Feb. 2. The decision comes due to a mechanical breakdown, more specifically a crack in the main manifold in the baler. Staff are still working at the Center, and are sorting through what recycling is on site, but the facility is overflowing and unable to take in any new pick-ups. The part is being shipped in from the United States, and will take at least a week to arrive. Due to the size of the part needed (250 pounds) it can not be shipped by air transport. When the part arrives, Thompson Tech will be in charge of installation, and getting the baler operational. The suspension of pick-ups is expected to last approximately one week.
