Police guard a Brandon Crescent crime scene where a woman was found dead in what is being considered a homicide.

The discovery of a woman's body inside a home on Brandon Crescent in the Eastwood area is being considered a homicide, RCMP say.

Police responded to a call about an unresponsive woman around 3 a.m. on Sept. 2 and discovered the body of a woman inside the home.

"The death is being treated as a homicide," said a news release issued by RCMP spokesman Cst. Miles Hiebert. "At this time, the identity of the woman has not yet been confirmed and no other details are being released."

The cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy was scheduled to take place in Winnipeg Sept. 3.

Thompson RCMP, Winnipeg and Thompson Major Crime Services and the Thompson Forensic Identification Unit are investigating.
