Remember When

30 Years Ago

Three men from Cross Lake were sentenced to six months in jail for a post-dance rampage in which they beat up a man and bombarded a police car, the jail cells and the community constable's house with rocks.

Graham Buckingham wrote a letter to the school board complaining that weeds from Westwood School were invading his flowerbed and threatening to present a bill for the time he spent trimming the edges of the school's lawn.

20 Years Ago

About 3,900 students were returning to schools in Thompson and they were 40 teachers starting new jobs in the School District of Mystery Lake.

A large number of Progressive Conservative candidate Loretta Clarke's election signs were moved overnight, some turning up on the candidate's front lawn and two dozen others in front of the Thompson Citizen office.

10 Years Ago

Police responded to a report of a child bitten by a dog at the corner of Ash Street and Hemlock Crescent and also to a dog found dead on Poplar Crescent.

The new Burntwood Community Health Resource Centre opened in the Thompson Plaza after three years of planning and renovations to the 16,600-square-foot space.
